4 TERROIRS THAT GIVE LIMOUX ITS FINEST CREATIONS
Located at the crossroad of two climatic influences, the Limoux terroir is enriched by its diversity. To the east, the Mediterranean influence gives a hot, dry climate. To the west, the temperate, damp climate is due to oceanic drifts. In the centre of the appellation, a mixed climate emerges while a cooler climate dominates to the south on the approach to the Pyrenean massif. Put it together with an essentially clayey-chalky soil and a few areas of marl and gravel, plus terraced vineyards rising from 200 to 500 metres in altitude, and lo and behold you have the contours of a land full of promises for the creators of fine wines.
Operating on 2500 hectares, the Vignerons du Sieur dArques make the very most of this diversity by producing fine classic Chardonnay and red wines of great distinction.
